Radiant System + Konrad: the ultimate 360° solution
Aerfor introduces the new integrated application of the radiant floor system combined with Konrad, a series of hybrid fan coils. A winter and summer climate control solution offering countless advantages.

Dear Designers and Builders, today, we present a real case study of an installation featuring a radiant floor system and Konrad hybrid fan coils. This specific installation was carried out in a three-story, 450 m² villa, utilizing a 25 kW heat pump. The system was designed to provide both winter and summer climate control.
Let’s take a closer look at the benefits of this application.
Summer Climate Control
As we all know, radiant systems face significant limitations when it comes to cooling during the summer, especially in high external temperatures and humidity, such as those experienced last summer. In this real case study, the presence of three bathrooms and two kitchens further increased the latent load, creating a real risk of humidity accumulation on floors.
Dehumidification units were ruled out for two main reasons: they reduce the seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) in summer climate control, and they do not help the slow thermal inertia of the radiant system to respond quickly to variable loads.
The Konrad solution combined with the radiant system brought several tangible and easily recognizable benefits, including:
- Humidity control in the environment, particularly important due to the presence of three bathrooms and two kitchens.
- Personalized set point control for each individual room, ensuring customized comfort based on personal preferences.
- Management of variable thermal loads throughout the day, including those caused by fluctuations in occupancy levels within the space.
- Exceptional air distribution comfort, thanks to the low frontal air velocity, which is made possible by air distribution through three separate outlets. The radiant + Konrad system delivered an outstanding comfort level.
Winter Climate Control
At first glance, radiant systems for winter climate control may seem flawless, but this is not entirely the case.
Even in winter, zone regulation for different set points based on the actual comfort preferences of room occupants can be challenging. Additionally, the high inertia of the radiant system does not always allow for precise temperature control.
With the integration of Konrad hybrid fan coils, all these issues were successfully resolved, without compromising the advantages of the radiant system.
Here is a summary of the key benefits:
- Radiant Effect: thanks to its front water radiator with high thermal mass capacity, Konrad supports the radiant floor system while maintaining acoustic comfort. In fact, the unit operates at Zero Decibels.
- Ventilated Effect: equipped with a radial fan with three air outlets, Konrad ensures rapid and ultra-quiet air distribution, allowing each room to maintain the desired set point.
The hybrid system combining radiant flooring and Konrad + hybrid fan coils represents the most advanced solution available today in terms of acoustic comfort, variable load management, and seasonal efficiency, both for summer and winter climate control.
