USA – taxes on Chinese solar panels

The USA Commerce Department announced that has decided to slap tariffs of 31% and higher on Chinese solar panels for “dumping” them in the American market. This decision will have significant implications for the global energy industry and for the business relationships between these two countries.
The Department announced that Chinese products dumped the American goods and it would levy a duty of 31% to about 60 Chinese firms involved in the inquiry but the duty will arrive to 250% for all the other firms that are not involved in.
At the beginning the taxes were not so high, but the Chinese government provided illegal subsidies for its industry and so the taxes become higher.
These taxes will have more than an effect on the American solar energy market also because the developers and installers of solar panels have generally welcomed the cheaper Chinese panels saying they have helped make solar installations more affordable to businesses and homeowners.
The decision sees conflicting opinions. U.S. producers, who are experiencing a not very easy moment approved this decision while firmly opposed is the CASE - Coalition for Affordable Solar Energy that considers these decisions very dangerous for the American solar market. This price increase is now inevitably going to affect all players in the production chain, from producers to final consumers.
The Chinese government said that the decision will result unjust and will generate inevitable "complications" in the cooperation between the two countries.
