Sibona Distillery: A Model of Energy Efficiency
Antica Distilleria Domenico Sibona is a historic company, founded in the early 20th century and located in the heart of Roero, a few kilometers from Alba, in one of the most renowned wine-growing areas of Piedmont.
For over a century, Sibona has been recognized as a symbol of excellence in the spirits industry. The company holds the historic "No. 1" license and produces high-quality grappas and spirits, based on the traditional technique of steam distillation from single-varietal grappas, as demonstrated by numerous international awards.
Built on the site of an old furnace, using an old steam locomotive for distillation, the distillery now operates in a modern and functional structure, designed to optimize commercial organization and production.
With the dual goal of improving energy efficiency and optimizing consumption , Distilleria Sibona has decided to modernize the heating system in its main building. This project is part of the company's ongoing evolution, begun in 2003.
For the redevelopment, the company relied on Alba-based Studio Saracco & Associati Ingegneria, specializing in plant design. The firm replaced the obsolete heat generator with a new, modern, high-performance system, ensuring precise adaptability to real-world needs and continuity of service.
To ensure energy efficiency and continuity of service, three Nesta Chrome 150 modulating condensing boilers were installed in cascade , for a total power of 450 kW . The modularity of the cascade ensures intelligent load management and thermal adaptability, reducing on/off cycles.
This translates into significantly reduced consumption and greater seasonal efficiency , striking the ideal balance between comfort and operating costs. Furthermore, the cascade solution ensures continuity of service even in the event of partial downtime.
The installation was carried out by Manissero srl with professionalism and precision, thanks also to the use of INAIL-approved stainless steel hydraulic kits, prepared by AIC.
The project at the Antica Distilleria Sibona represents a virtuous example of an energy efficiency strategy.
Nesta Chrome, available from 60 to 150 kW, is the ideal solution for energy requalification interventions on existing systems.
