Saudi Arabia – 41.000 megawatt of solar energy by 2032

Saudi Arabia – the world’s largest crude oil exporter – aims to have 41.000 megawatts of solar capacity within two decades through the installation of 25.000 megawatt of concentration solar plants and 16.000 megawatt of traditional solar panels said Maher al-Odan, a consultant at the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy.

To obtain this objective, Saudi Arabia is looking for $109 billion investors to supply one-half of its electricity. The Saudis will devote $82 billion for the capital costs of the solar facilities and the remainder to build solar factories and operate the solar facilities.

For the solar panel manufacturers tha Saudi Arabian market would open a huge new market as European countries reduce subsidies to keep a lid on installations.
