Proterceiling: the radiant roof, for an almost free climatization

The Earth is warmed by radiation from the Sun, but the Sun does not warm the air: air temperature at 9000 metres is below -50°C. The air warms up by contact with the surface of the Earth warmed by the Sun.
This is the functioning principle upon which the Proterceiling system works: a warmer or cooler ceiling, according to the season, absorbs or transmits the heat to surrounding people, structures and furniture, the air gets warmer or cooler by convection or by contact with the radiated surfaces at different temperatures. A certain amount of external air (primary air) is supplied to the room for the purpose of physiological exchangeand to monitor the relative humidity.

Proterceiling works using low-temperature fluids. The use of heating pumps fuelled with water coming either from a stratum or from a geothermal probe:
• in wintertime guarantees very high heating performances with a low energy consumption
• in summertime enables to use water directly, i.e. through a heat exchanger in case of stratum water or directly on the heating circuit in case of water coming from a geothermal probe.

The type of windows used in the building also plays an important role, as windows are responsible for the loss or gain of heat, light, sound and as they prevent from burgling. Selective low-emissivity windows combine an effective reflection of heat energy in the room with a perfect control of solar radiation and a high light transmission rate. This means a warmer temperature in wintertime, a cooler temperature in summertime and more natural light all the year.
