New Copeland Scroll™ ZSKA compressor: 15% more efficient than competing reciprocating compressors

Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc., a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today introduced a new mid-sized refrigeration compressor (1 to 4 hp) targeted to convenience stores, restaurants and foodservice establishments. The new Copeland ScrollTM ZSKA compressor delivers an improved energy efficiency rating (EER) of up to 15 percent when compared to competing reciprocating compressors.

Possessing a wide operating envelope (from -25F to 45F) for low through high temperature applications, the Copeland Scroll™ ZSKA compressor is compatible with a variety of refrigerants, including R-404A, R-507, R-134a, R-407A/C and R-22.

“Because the new ZSKA compressor is quieter and more efficient than competitive models, it is ideal for use in foodservice applications, including soft serve ice cream and frozen carbonated beverage machines,” said Jason Prenger, director, foodservice marketing, Emerson Climate Technologies.

Within the past few years, industry standards and government regulations for higher energy efficiency have become more prevalent in the commercial refrigeration market.

“As the foodservice industry is faced with more challenging performance requirements, the new ZSKA compressor is another example of Copeland Scroll technology achieving the efficiency and reliability that customers demand,” added Prenger.
