The 150 Grenfell Street case: Energy efficiency and air quality by Seeley International

The Seeley International sales team recently visited 150 Grenfell Street in the heart of Adelaide: one of Australia’s most innovative and sustainable buildings. Designed by Built Environs Pty. Ltd. , the building is set to become the city’s first carbon neutral office, setting new standards in energy efficiency and air quality.

During the visit, the team was able to see first-hand the effectiveness of the installed HVAC system, which integrates some of the most advanced technologies available on the market. Among these, a central role is played by Seeley International's Climate Wizard units , an indirect evaporative cooling solution that combines high performance, sustainability and comfort.

The mechanical installation and plumbing services were undertaken by Westside Group , with the support of Paul Jeffery, Head of Services. He explained in detail how Climate Wizard technology has helped achieve significant energy savings whilst maintaining excellent indoor air quality .

The results speak for themselves: thanks to the use of two CW-80 units , the system is able to guarantee a total pre-cooling capacity of 373 kW , with a delivery temperature to the AHU of 17.7°C even with external air at 38.1°C. The overall air flow reaches 14,800 L/s , while the reduction in peak input power is estimated at 103 kW , equal to an energy saving of 44% .

One of the most interesting aspects highlighted during the visit was the ability of the Climate Wizard units to cool the outside air without adding humidity , maintaining constant performance even in the most difficult climatic conditions. This is made possible by the patented M-cycle technology, which allows to obtain temperatures comparable to those of a traditional air conditioning system, but with up to 80% lower energy consumption .
