Cologne, Germany — Johann Franz König GmbH & Co., a renowned glass manufacturing company with over 180 years of experience, has successfully tackled soaring summer temperatures in its production hall by installing Seeley International’s hyper-efficient indirect evaporative cooling system, Climate Wizard.
Facing indoor temperatures climbing above 40°C—well beyond the 30°C outdoors—the company sought a solution to improve working conditions for its 30 employees. The challenge was compounded by the presence of crane tracks and spatial constraints within the building, originally constructed in 1962.
After evaluating multiple cooling options, the firm selected eight Climate Wizard CW3 standalone units, installed by Schulte-Industrieheizung GmbH. This cutting-edge system employs a counter-flow heat exchanger that delivers 100% fresh, cool outside air without adding moisture—crucial for the sensitive nature of glass production.
The results were immediate and impressive: the indoor temperature dropped by at least 10 degrees Celsius, significantly improving employee comfort and productivity. Moreover, operating costs were reduced compared to conventional systems, aligning with the company’s economic and environmental goals.
