From a disused mine in Germany arises the largest solar park in the world

Canadian Solar turned a former mine into a big photovoltaic park in Senftenberg, Germany. Thanks to this project the CEO Shawn Qu has been awarded with the prize "photovoltaic Project of the Year 2012".
Canadian Solar, a giant for the production of solar modules, has been awarded the prize "photovoltaic Project of the Year 2012" prize issued at the Power-Gen International 2012 held in Florida, thanks to the construction of the solar park in Senftenberg, Germany, where an abandoned industrial site has been transformed into one of the largest solar park in the world.
The solar park, judged by a team of eight experts in the field of renewable energy, beat 43 other projects from all around the world.

The park, near Brandenburg, housed a former lignite mine: to redevelop the area Canadian Solar planed the photovoltaic park with 352 acres, providing 636mila photovoltaic modules and supplying about 90% of the 166 MW plant.
The use of the entire surface of the former mine allowed to redevelop an abandoned land and create hundreds of jobs, generating clean energy for 67,500 families in the area.

Great satisfaction for the award winners, as highlighted Shawn Qu, Chairman and CEO of Canadian Solar, who asserts "The success of the solar system shows that it is faster to develop, build and gain profits with photovoltaic systems than other types plant, even in areas considered at low solar radiation".
