Air conditioning without an external unit: the IDRA Next project in a constrained context

In the most delicate architectural contexts, such as historic centers or buildings subject to conservation restrictions, air conditioning often represents a complex design challenge. The project in the historic center of Busseto demonstrates how it is possible to combine indoor comfort and architectural aesthetics thanks to the use of the IDRA Next system.

The project allowed for the installation of an air conditioning system without an external unit, while maintaining the building's façade completely unchanged and respecting existing architectural constraints.

A fully integrated system inside

The IDRA Next system was installed entirely inside the building, with the condensing unit integrated into an existing technical compartment. This design solution eliminates any external visual impact while ensuring continuity with the architectural design.

This approach allows us to intervene even in complex situations, where the installation of external units is not permitted or is particularly invasive.

The advantages for designers and installers

The adoption of IDRA Next offers a series of concrete benefits during the design and installation phase:

  • no impact on the facade , with full respect for the architectural envelope
  • applicability in restricted contexts , such as historic centers and protected buildings
  • design freedom , without the need to provide external units
  • completely internal system , for discreet and non-invasive technical integration

A solution that expands the scope for intervention in existing buildings, offering new opportunities for system redevelopment.

Air conditioning and architecture: a possible balance

The Busseto case study highlights how it is possible to integrate air conditioning into the architectural design without compromise, even in the presence of stringent constraints.

Systems like IDRA Next represent a concrete response to market needs, which is increasingly oriented towards solutions that combine efficiency, discretion, and design flexibility.
