TURN-ABOUT OF THE BIG BEN
Only a few days have passed since the English renewable sector expressed satisfaction for the announcement of the feed-in-tariff system, dedicated to houses with sustainable energy plants. But now the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) announced immediate suspension of the Low Carbon Building Programme grants, a programme of 131 million pounds which the English Government used to support zero emission energy plants.
The suspension left astonished those who were already organizing renewable systems installation and now can’t count on government grants anymore.
DECC stated it stopped grants for electric microcogeneration to channel them to thermal microcogeneration sector.
During this transition time, though, no one will be able to benefit from government grants.
The Renewable Energy Association (REA) harshly commented governmental decisions and many environmentalist groups not only declared the failure of government renewable technologies promotion, but they also accused it to favor few companies while forgetting house and small companies owners, cut out from grants.
