RENEWABLE ENERGY TARGETS FOR 2020: REALISTIC OR NOT?
The RES2020 project has completed the analysis of the scenarios for the 2020 renewable energy and environmental targets for the EU 27 Member States.
Using the PanEuropean TIMES model, a least cost optimization model for the EU27, the scenarios have been analysed, as was the statistical transfer mechanism, foreseen in the final version of the Renewable Energy Directive.
Detailed paths for the target achievement per renewable technology, and end-use sector are presented and discussed for four alternative
scenarios and for each Member State, together with policy recommendations.
