Solarexpo & Greenbuilding confirms once again its position as the No. 1 trade fair in its sector in Italy and among the top five worldwide, with 69,500 certified visitors over the event’s three days – up 9% from 2009.

A total of 5,320 people attended the trade fair’s 71 conferences, which were addressed by 343 speakers, featuring important names such as: Ingmar Wilhelm, President, EPIA; John Andersen Jr., Executive VP & Chief Operating Officer, REC Solar; Stuart Brannigan, Managing Director, Yingli Green Energy Europe; David Hogg, Head, Suntech Europe; T.K. Kallenbach, Executive VP for Marketing & Product Management, First Solar; Doug Rose, Vice President, Technology Strategy, SunPower; Marko Werner, Chief Sales Officer, SMA Solar Technology; and Paolo Frankl, Head of Renewable Energy Unit, IEA. The events also saw the presence of international architects and city planners such as Thomas Herzog, J. Boecker, Dan Mogensen, Gustaf Landahl and Eva Kail.

Sector experts and technical speakers attended seminars and conferences that were organised on topics such as photovoltaics, solar thermal, hydroelectricity, biomass, co-generation and geothermal energy as well as energy efficiency and sustainable architecture.
The success of Solarexpo & Greenbuilding was further underlined by the presence of more than 1,200 exhibitors, occupying 10 halls with a total exhibition space of 100,000 square meters, and more than 200 accredited journalists.

“The 2010 edition of Solarexpo and Greenbuilding was again marked by strong growth, placing us firmly now among the world’s top five trade fairs in our sector,” said Sara Quotti Tubi, director of the two exhibitions. “With exhibition space sold out and almost 70,000 certified trade visitors, we are most satisfied. The strength that has been seen in the renewables market in recent years and the drive towards sustainability in architecture have finally boosted Italian and international markets, as testified by the satisfaction expressed by our 1,200 exhibitors.”

“Solarexpo and Greenbuilding have today become a technical and networking event of international standing that people can’t afford to miss,” stated Luca Zingale, scientific director of Solarexpo and Greenbuilding. “Italy has been granted a position of undisputed leadership in international markets for renewables and sustainable architecture thanks to the hundreds of speakers of the highest institutional level and industry standing, who came from around the world to attend more than 70 conferences organised during the exhibition’s three days.”

Solarexpo & Greenbuilding will be held again in Verona next year on 4-6 May 2011.
