Radiant heating systems: towards a new set of methodologies and technologies for cost reduction

According to The NEWS, many manufacturers and companies are currently studying news solutions to reduce radiant heating systems overall costs. The main concern remains that of sensitizing users about radiant system heating benefits.
Radiant heating is becoming every day more and more a testing and imporvement ground for many manufacturers and companies, which are currenlty developing new products and solutions to reduce costs and make this market segment more accessible for residential and commercial applications.

According to The NEWS, radiant heating would fight every day against a reputation that considers this technology as an extremely expensive solution for winter and summer heating.

However, according to the statements released to The NEWS by some HVAC professionals and companies, much work has been done so far to find new products and solutions capable of reducing installation prices and labor cost, in order to make this technology more accessible and competitive as for its initial costs.

How to reduce, then, overall operating costs related to a radiant heating system?

First of all, as the online magazine reports, some actions should be taken on installation costs, which are HVAC companies’ and customers’ main concern.

It is therefore required to develop and produce systems and components that require less installation time and are able to offer both versatility and efficiency for several usage, without sacrificing quality.

Secondly, one can cut the costs of a radiant heating system even before it is installed, using for example, smart design softwares.

The heating system planning and design can provide the installers with a model of the system to be installed, supplying him with all relevant information well in advance.

Proper heating system planning, preparation and organization carried out before its installation, can reduce installers’ working hours and the overall costs of the radiant heating application.

Even the use of electronics in radiant heating systems can be a viable option to reduce costs, both for new construction and renovation of existing buildings.

Electric cable systems are easy to install, have a lower cost in terms of material and limited maintenance costs.

The HVAC professionals interviewed by The NEWS seem to agree on one point: given that the cost of installing a radiant heating system is definitely a field on which to intervene in the future, studying products and solutions speeding up installation and reducing overall costs, the main problem is still sensitising users.

It is therefore fundamental to empower users on the advantages offered by radiant heating and cooling systems, in particular, on long-term energy benefits and comfort that these systems can provide.
