When operating in environments characterized by the presence of flammable gases or potentially explosive atmospheres – such as in oil platforms, laboratories, chemical industries or battery rooms – it is essential to adopt ventilation systems capable of guaranteeing reliable performance without compromising safety. The PLATE-M ATEX helical fan was created precisely to respond to this need.

Certified according to the ATEX directive 2014/34/EU, the PLATE-M ATEX is a robust, versatile solution that complies with the most stringent regulations for use in explosive atmospheres of categories 2G, 2D, 3G and 3D (group II).

 

Complete range for every system requirement

The PLATE-M ATEX series consists of 10 sizes with impeller diameters from 250 to 800 mm , available in single-phase (230V) or three-phase (400V) versions. 4, 6 and 8-pole configurations are available to meet the most diverse flow rate requirements, with values ranging from 1,400 to over 23,000 m³/h, while maintaining low noise levels and low consumption.

 

Robust construction and explosion-proof materials

Each component of the PLATE-M ATEX has been designed to minimize the risk of ignition in hazardous environments:

  • Frame in antistatic plastic material or galvanized steel, with or without aluminum band in the fan area;
  • High-efficiency impeller with hub and blades in cast aluminium or conductive plastic, balanced according to UNI ISO 21940-11;
  • Single-phase or three-phase asynchronous electric motor , explosion-proof and ATEX approved , with IP55 protection, class F and continuous operation (S1);
  • Safety net on the engine side , in galvanized steel wire, compliant with UNI EN 294 for operator protection.

 

Flexible configurations and customized airflow

The fan is configured with air flow from motor to impeller (position A – FMG), but on request it can also be supplied in the reverse configuration (impeller → motor – position B – FGM). This versatility makes it suitable even in pre-existing systems or in non-standard configurations.

Standard operating conditions include:

  • Treated air temperature from -20°C to +40°C;
  • Transported fluid : non-dusty, non-abrasive, non-corrosive gases.

 

Accessories and customizations available

PLATE-M ATEX can be equipped with accessories that increase its safety and compatibility with different contexts:

  • Gravity damper (SG) to prevent air backflow during periods of inactivity (for safe areas only);
  • Impeller side protection net (PG-P) mandatory for installation with free mouth;
  • Spacer (SP) for installation in panels or walls of different thicknesses.

Customized versions with different materials are also available, always compliant with ATEX regulations, to adapt to particular operating conditions.

 

Performance tested in real-world conditions

The performance of the PLATE-M ATEX is verified in type “B” installations, in free field, at 15°C and sea level, without networks or accessories . The aeraulic and acoustic data are within the tolerances foreseen by the DIN 24166 – Class 2 standard, and allow for precise design of the systems.

The sound pressure levels, measured at a distance of 5 metres, are optimised even in the larger sizes, making the PLATE-M ATEX suitable even in environments where noise is a critical factor.
