Pike Research: 780 MW residential energy storage by 2020

According to the Pike Research report, “Community and Residential Energy Storage”, the residential energy storage should achieve 780MW power by 2020.

These applications are still at the beginning of their life, but they are seen as one of the newest applications that will represent a breakthrough in energy storage. A witness of this change is the interest shown by suppliers, vendors and even by governments to these energy storage systems.

The research involves an increase in investment in this market for $ 4,2 billion over the next 10 years.
According to estimates the value of CRES (Community and Residential Energy Storage) will increase from 19,2 million dollars in 2012 to 872 million dollars in 2022 with a total capacity of 780MW.

According to Anissa Dehamna, Pike Research analyst, “CRES are still at the beginning phase, but they will be one of the most innovative applications of the next decade” using lithium-ion, flow- and lead-acid advanced batteries.
