Photovoltaic, global investments will grow again from 2014
According to a survey of the American IHS, the growth in demand from South America, Middle-East and Africa will allow the recovery of the market.
2014 could be the year for the recovery of the photovoltaic industry. According to the last report of the American market research company IHS, the global investments made by the photovoltaic producers should yearly increase of 30% up to a volume of business of 3 billion dollars.
The recovery would arrive after two years of investments in decline, most of all thanks to the growth in demand of the South America countries, Africa and Middle-East: in 2012 the modules, the photovoltaic cells and the wafers marketplace went down of 72%, while in 2013 it is expected a more moderate decrease, near to 36%. The last positive element dates back to 2011 (+8%).
“The excess in the productive photovoltaic capacity – said Jon Campos, solar analyst in IHS – is mainly focused in the United States, Europe and China. Considered the expansion in new areas, the photovoltaic producers want to produce their products in these regions opening new factories”.
