Legionella: more than 200 reported cases per year in the UK
The most appreciated conference in the UK on most current topics related to the prevention of Legionnaires' disease and water treatment.
Legionella contamination, a bacterium responsible for lung infections, even fatal, has recently made the headlines for being found in Leicester Hospital water supplies, prompting the organizers of the annual conference on "Combatting Legionella & Water Treatment" to substantially update the traditional event this year.
Legionellosis, also known as Legionnaire's disease, can affect anyone, older or sick people, immunocompromised patients or smokers, especially, causing death, or, at worst, permanent disability.
Each year in the UK, there are approximately 200-250 cases of Legionella infection, although it is assumed that the number of infections is far higher. Nearly half of the infections are contracted while travelling abroad and by infection of refrigeration or hot water production systems, in factories, hotels, hospitals and other establishments.
In the splendid setting of Villa Park Aston in Birmingham, on 24 and 25 September 2014, doctors and experts will cover all topics related to the prevention of Legionnaires' disease and water treatment.
"Combatting Legionella & Water Treatment" is one of the most appreciated sector event in UK and Europe, as well as recipient of numerous awards over the years. A valuable opportunity both for the exchange of know-how and best practices, but also to expand one’s network.
