INTELLIGENT METERING KEY TO ENERGY EFFICIENCY FOR SMES
The aIM4SMEs project is helping SMEs across five European countries (Austria, Hungary, Poland, Portugal and the UK) monitor their energy consumption.
But it does not stop there. Once an accurate picture of their use is established, the project then supports them with training and advice – all to help them reduce their consumption, making them more competitive and efficient.
SMEs are monitored using intelligent metering such as half hourly pulse output. Data is fed into a common database where consumption patterns and values are translated into financial and carbon terms. Significant savings can be achieved by good housekeeping alone, and the data can be used to negotiate fuel tariffs.
