IDEAS, PROJECTS AND NEW INTERNATIONAL FRONTIERS THE INTERNATIONAL ENERGY FORUM CLOSES WITH THESE OBJECTIVES
Two days of congress, scientific sessions and debates to discuss about new goals and plans for the future of the international energy market. How to turn the great potential in actual capacity? Which are Italian and European needs? Which are the needs of other European countries? Which is the way to go out from the “empass” ? These are some of the topics discussed during FEI, the International Energy Forum 2010 held In Italy in the Castle of Barletta (16th and 17th June).
The congress opened with the presentation of an important study worked out by a specialized Research Institute (NE-Nomisma Energia) regarding the state of infrastructure for gas and electricity in Europe and the Mediterranean basin. Lasted several months, it shows the census and the state of the art of all major projects in the European countries and in the Mediterranean area. The study has also assigned a rating of feasibility at each project.
One of the most important session of the forum was dedicated to nuclear power. For the first time all the world players in the nuclear sector such as Westinghouse, General Electric, Areva, Enel, Ansaldo Nucleare and many other made-in-Italy companies came together to speak about their experience in the nuclear sector.
The congress showed that the nuclear issue is based on three essential points: the need to classify companies which are still inadequate today; the need to create training sessions to train and form the actors in order to make them capable of working in the nuclear sector; last but not least the need to communicate and inform adequately all the people. Communicate and especially inform.
In gas & electricity session several projects about the major power plants were presented. We can mention the main projects such as: the TAP Trans Adriatic Pipeline, the IGI - Poseidon, the Nord Stream pipeline, Galsi and OLT-Offshore LNG Toscana.
It has been discussed also the way and the strategy useful to make these projects able to produce the best results. It was in this context that they discussed also about Smart Grid: a system of intelligent network born with the aim of improving the performance of the energy infrastructures.
An institutional round table concluded the two-day forum with Hon. Stefano Saglia, Italian State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development; Hon. Federico Testa, Member of the Italian House of Representatives; Alessandro Ortis, Chairman of the Electricity and Gas Authority; Giulio Gravaghi, Chairman of ANISGEA and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of FEI; Luigi Iperti, Chairman of the Energy Department of OICE; Carlo De Masi, Secretary-General of FLAEI and Giuseppe Bolla, one of the most important Italian experts in nuclear power.
During the final round table, Stefano Saglia has showed that "The projects on the table are moving fast enough."
The Forum had also great interest on renewable energy. It’s a very important topic in Puglia also because this Region is considered one of the most important in Italy for renewable energy. On Friday (18th June) was organized a technical visit to the photovoltaic park in Trinitapoli realized by EFFEPISOLAR.
Among orchards and olive groves a large and great photovoltaic park was born in 2009. 13,776 panels with a power of 72.5 Wp each for a total power plant of 998.76 kWp. Engineers and technicians have told us how the project came out and the procedure for which the energy producted by the photovoltaic panels comes up to our houses. Interesting and really fascinating to see how projecting and working in the right way can create a perfect balance between nature and human genius.
Projects, proposals and real intentions. There are institutional wills, the results of several scientific researches, projects of the major international energy companies. Now the countdown starts: FEI has launched the challenge and we are already waiting for FEI 2011 in order to check if promises and commitments will have been respected.
