GEOTHERMY: MORE AND MORE INFORMATION

In accordante to Decree nr 22/2010, a reform of the geothermal sector, an inventory o national geothermal resources has recently been published on National office for mining, hydrocarbons and geothermal resources (UNMIG) web site.
Moreover  a 62 pages document, framing the situation and prospect of geothermal Energy in Italy, was published too.

Decree nr 22, entitled “Reorganization of regulations on search and cultivation of geothermal sources, in accordance with article 27, paragraph 28 of Law nr 99 of 23rd of July 2009”has many innovative aspects. The new regulation, published on the Official Gazette nr 45 of the 24th of February and in force from the 11th of March, “underlines in particular geothermal energy production for non-electrical purposes” and, among other things, it introduced an “innovative regulation for geothermal heat pumps”.

From Decree nr 22:
“These, with or without withdrawal and returning of underground water, involving not deep perforation and withdrawal of small quantity of heat, can also include areas not characterized by anomalous geothermal gradients. For these and, in general, for all “minor” geothermal applications, normally used by citizens to heat or cool buildings, greenhouses and sport facilities, simplified authorization is scheduled, in accordance to incentives assigned to energy efficiency and renewable energetic sources. This will further develop the sector.”
