European Union – 4 Member States not in line with EU rules
The European Commission, with reference to the objective to reach a 20% share of renewable energy in final energy consumption and a 10% share of renewable energy in transport by 2020, says that Cyprus, Ireland, Malta and Slovenia are not in line with EU rules and they have not informed the Commission of all the measures necessary to fully transpose the Directive into their national legislation.
Specifically, the Commission says that, in order to reach these objectives, every Member States have to lay down rules and specific laws.
Therefore, the Commission has decided to send Reasoned Opinions to these Member States and if they don’t comply with their obligation within two months, the Commission may decide to inform the Court of Justice.
