Delta-ee, low emission heating technologies: about 1.5 million units in annual sales by 2025 in Europe
According to Delta-ee, the sales of heating systems having low environmental impact in Europe will probably be four times greater than today by 2025. At the same time, gas boilers sales will experience a 22% decline.
Delta-ee, a research and consulting company specialized in emerging decentralised energy markets, published the summary of a study conducted on Europe’s top five countries for heating appliances on its website.
The study shows that the European market for low-carbon heating technologies will presumably see a four-fold increase in the sales of low-carbon heating equipment by 2025.
In the next decade, in the five countries analyzed (Germany, Italy, France, the UK and the Netherlands), the sales of heating systems having low environmental impact will be four times greater than today, reaching about 1.5 million units sold per year, the equivalent of the entire UK market for heating appliances.
France seems to be the European country with the best prospects for sales of low emission heating technologies, due to the fact that the country itself has the biggest new build market in Europe, with about 300.000 new properties per year, and also because of its strict building regulations, which forces contractors and designers to use smart technologies to reduce the environmental impact.
According to Delta-ee estimates, the UK, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands follow France in the list.
In the same period of time, as a result, gas boilers sales will decrease by 800.000 units per year approximately, the equivalent of the entire Italian market, or, more generally, a 22% decline in the five countries analyzed.
Similarly, as the sales of low-carbon heating systems are expected to increase over the next years, also the related technology industry will probably expand its view.
According to Delta-ee, there will be ten key-technologies competing for the low-carbon heating equipment market, such as, for example, those called "gas boilers plus", that is, gas boilers combined with solar thermal, solar PV or a heat pump, or the new "hybrids", which are the combination of a heat pump with a boiler.
