On September 29, 2026, Brussels will host the third edition of the ATMOsphere MAC Summit , the international event dedicated to natural refrigerants in mobile applications and transport refrigeration. The event is organized by ATMOsphere in partnership with the Chair of Heat Transfer and Heat Conversion at the Technical University of Berlin.
After the first two editions hosted on the TU Berlin campus, the 2026 event is adopting a new one-day format and moving to the heart of Europe, with the aim of expanding the participant base and involving a growing number of industry stakeholders.
The conference is aimed at OEMs, suppliers, policy makers, researchers, and technicians interested in the development and adoption of low-impact solutions for air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration in transportation.
The program includes technical presentations, roundtable discussions, market trend updates, and case studies presented directly by manufacturers and component producers, along with insights into the evolution of European regulations. One of the event's primary goals is to facilitate dialogue between industry, regulators, and academia to accelerate the transition to climate-friendly technologies in the automotive, bus, truck, and rail sectors.
Topics covered
The conference focuses on:
- technological and market trends for natural refrigerants in mobile applications,
- role of natural refrigerants CO₂ (R744) and propane (R290),
- reversible air conditioning and heat pump systems,
- refrigeration for trucks and containers,
- thermal management in battery cooling,
- refrigerant charge reduction and compressor lubrication strategies ,
- heat and work recovery , control and safety aspects of the systems,
- European regulatory developments : F-Gas Regulation, proposed PFAS restriction, MAC directive.
The ATMOsphere MAC Summit represents a strategic opportunity to preview the most advanced technologies based on natural refrigerants, establish new business relationships, learn about international best practices, and understand the evolution of the sustainable mobility market in Europe and around the world.
