Air curtains in industrial contexts: how to ensure comfort and energy savings according to SIRE

High performance modular air curtains for thermal and energy protection of industrial environments

Large logistics centers , warehouses, and production plants are equipped with loading doors that are opened frequently or remain open for long periods. This leads to significant energy waste, with high costs related to heating or cooling the internal environments. Maintaining a comfortable internal climate therefore becomes a challenge: not only for the well-being of the personnel passing near the doors, but also for production and conservation needs related to the stored materials.

INDESSE: the solution to reduce costs and protect internal environments

Installing an industrial air curtain is a strategic choice that allows you to optimize the energy efficiency of buildings. SIRE's INDESSE air curtains create a high-speed laminar air flow that acts as an invisible door between inside and outside. This flow effectively counteracts the entry of cold or hot outside air, dust, smoke, odors and insects.

Thanks to the exclusive “ Straw System ”, INDESSE barriers generate a linear and controlled air jet, with a vertical coverage of up to 6 m and a horizontal coverage of up to 12 m (in lateral installation with two opposing modules). The result is a clear reduction in thermal loads and better air quality inside the rooms.

When equipped with a heating function (water or electric), INDESSE also provides additional heat, further improving operator comfort.

Versatility and applications of INDESSE air curtains

INDESSE barriers adapt perfectly to different industrial contexts:

  • Industrial buildings and distribution centers , where maintaining a constant temperature improves productivity and reduces costs.
  • Refrigerated warehouses and cold rooms , where it is essential to limit the dispersion of cold air and protect the cold chain.
  • Internal areas with different temperatures , for example near areas supervised by personnel and areas intended exclusively for storage.
  • Installation can be horizontal , above the door, or vertical on the sides of the door, thanks to a wide range of mounting accessories and customizable supports.

A modular system for every industrial need

The INDESSE series air curtains also stand out for their flexibility of configuration. Thanks to the modular structure, it is possible to combine multiple units to protect openings of any size. The connection and support kits facilitate assembly in a horizontal or vertical line, allowing perfect integration even in complex architectural contexts.

The air flow speed and throw angle adjustment options allow the barrier to be optimized according to specific environmental conditions. Furthermore, the system is designed for simple and fast maintenance, with accessories that facilitate installation and reduce intervention times. These features make INDESSE an ideal solution not only for new installations, but also for retrofitting existing buildings that require an upgrade in terms of energy efficiency and comfort.

SIRE INDEX in detail

  • Available lengths : 1.65 m, 2.20 m and 2.75 m, with the possibility of connecting multiple modules in line to protect very large openings.
  • Air flow rate : up to 18,500 m³/h per module, with low sound pressure levels (from 63 to 67 dB(A) at 5 m distance).
  • Maximum protection height : up to 6 m in horizontal installation; up to 12 m in vertical opposed installation.
  • Heating options:
    • without heating (S0)
    • water heating (V2) — power up to 127 kW with air outlet temperatures up to 44 °C (with water at 110/80 °C)
      • electric heating (E1) — power up to 40.5 kW with air temperature increase up to 6.5 °C.
  • Available motors : standard versions or with low consumption EC fan motors (on request).
  • Materials and finishes : galvanized steel or painted RAL9016; other RAL colours available on request.
  • Accessories :
    • Fixing kit for ceiling or wall mounting.
    • Brackets for airflow orientation.
    • Speed regulators (CP13 and STRA1 series), with the possibility of selecting up to 5 ventilation speeds.
