HYBRICAL: Heat Pump-Boiler Integration Unit - Caleffi

Description

The application and economic limits of the main sources of renewable energy, which are not always affordable to use, and the high percentages of renewable energy, enforced in Leg. Decree No. 28 of 3.3.2011, are leading people to consider very carefully the performance levels obtainable from systems using two energy sources, in particular, systems using boilers and air-water heat pumps.

To make it easier to build this kind of systems, the market now offers special pre-assembled systems which can also have some negative aspects not to be underestimated.

Caleffi instead offers a pre-assembled hybrid unit that allows to connect the hydraulic circuits of heat pumps, boilers and terminals used in the system. This unit consists of a diversion kit complete with a divert valve, a manifold and an electronic regulator fitted with outside compensated probe.  The regulator ensures an automatic alternative functioning between the heat pump and the boiler.

Why should you install a Caleffi HYBRICAL pre-assembled hybrid unit?

In comparison with "all-in-one systems", the pre-assembled hybrid units:

  • In case of failure of one heat source, no heating interruption occurs.
  • Allow existing boiler systems to be converted to hybrid systems.
  • Allow to build systems without the necessity to choose a boiler and heat pump - products which are technologically very different - made by the same manufacturer.
  • Make it easier to build and manage hybrid systems.
  • Allow to connect heat generators using solutions that can be contained in wall-mounted boxes: this is very important in smaller living units.
  • Allow to build compact and visually acceptable systems that are easy to control and do not require specialist maintenance: user can refer to his usual trustworthy installer.
  • The regulator allows to set the switching temperature between the two energy sources based on the relation between heat pump performance and thermal cost of electricity and natural gas.
